Dorotha Zane Fulk was born Nov. 22, 1921, in rural Cowley County, northwest of Winfield, to Bertha and Vaits Fulk. She attended Winfield High School and Southwestern College. In the early 1940s, she taught elementary education in rural Cowley County.
Dorotha married DeWitt Ahlerich in 1945. They operated a farm near Akron until Mr. Ahlerich's death in 1983. From her marriage to Mr. Ahlerich, she leaves three sons, Milton, Donald and Stanley.
In 1989, Dorotha married Lewis Gilbreath of Winfield. He survives. With Lewis, Dorotha continued her generous contributions to the Winfield community through her membership in the First Presbyterian Church, his membership in the First United Methodist Church, and associations with many, many friends.
Dorotha felt her life was a life fully lived. Her faith, energy, optimism and laughter were pervasive and helped her and those around her overcome difficult times and more completely appreciate the joyous times of life. She loved her family and friends so very much and we, whose lives were enriched by having known her, will cherish her memory.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Gilbreath; three sons, Milton Ahlerich, Alexandria, Va., Donald Ahlerich, Tulsa, Okla., and Stanley Ahlerich, Winfield.
