He was born December 7, 1925 in Tiffin, Ohio to Albert & Leona (Hauck) Benner.
Survivors include sisters; Doris Weikert of Upper Sandusky, OH and Betty Cooper of Oracle, AZ; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herman, Louis & Walter Benner; sisters, Mary Shaffer, Anna Babione-Wasserman, Alma Price, Margie Turner and Kathryn Benner.
Pete graduated from McCutchenville High School in 1943 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 serving in WWII in Germany in the 88 2nd Field Artillery Battalion. He was a member of the Local 788 Painters Union and retired as a union painter after many years. Pete enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a strong sense of duty to his country. He lived in Tiffin and the surrounding area his entire life and was loved by his family.
His funeral will begin at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Roemmele officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 9:30-10:15 A.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419)447-2424.
