Elmo was married to Goldie Pearl Parker June 9, 1929, at Gray Rocks south of Custer. They had no children.
Elmo was a Game Warden in Custer County at the time of their marriage. He later became Game Warden in Pennington County, moving on to Pierre to be Assistant Manager of the Game and Fish Department of South Dakota, then into manager of several of the National Refuges for the US Fish and Wildlife Department.
They retired to Custer in 1960.
Elmo passed away on May 31, 1967. His wife preceded him in death on September 12, 1965.
He is buried in the Custer Cemetery.
