From a letter from Will P. Ralph, archivist of the Methodist Episcopal Church in California, 26 Jul 1977:

"On the west wall of the Shattuck Avenue Methodist Church, 63rd St. and Shattuck Ave., Oakland, are two memorial windows, one has J.M. Hinman and another B.B. Hinman. The contractor of the church was E.A. Thompson, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. This church was built in 1908."

Further he says: "7 Feb 1901 the Shattuck Ave. Methodist Church was incorporated with about 15 members ... Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Thompson ... J.M. Hinman. The church met at 60th and Shattuck until 1907."

Thompson married Leona May Hinman.
