Funeral services for William R. Sutcliffe, who was drowned in the Pacific Ocean last Wednesday February 7, 1945, in an accident in the shipyards in San Pedro, CA where he was employed. Services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Cheney memorial Chapel with the Rev. W.L.Gates of the Church of God Holiness Officating. Mrs Charlene Sutcliffe and Willie's son Billy Joe accompanied his body to Fort Scott, Kansas to hold the service.
A Trio consisting of Miss Pauline Lane, Miss Ida Gates and Miss Mildred Frezell sang two numbers with Doris Jones as organist
The body was accompanied to Mena, Arkansas by the widow and two sons Billy Joe and Harold Leroy Sutcliffe. The latter son, who is with the Navy, flew here from CA.
Other relatives and friends here for the services included Mr. an Mrs. Jake Typer and family of Devon, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bruner and family and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hunsicker and family of Uniontown, KS. Mr,. and Mrs. Milo Sutcliffe and family of Walnut, KS and Mr. and Mrs Lewie Sutcliffe and family of Parsons, KS.
