Mildred Caroline Ballengee Fry, age 89, widow of James E. Fry, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2011 at Envoy of Staunton.

She was born in Staunton November 24, 1921 to James E. and Maude Michelinie Ballengee.

Before her retirement, she worked for 29 years at Genesco.

In addition to her parents and her husband of 54 years, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and C. Richard Ballengee, and two sisters, Charlotte Harlow and Hilda Huntley.

Family members include a son, Jerry E. Fry and wife, Linda; a daughter, Patricia Blackley and husband, Chuck; a sister, Betty Lou Jackson and husband, Aubrey, all of Staunton; a granddaughter, Stephanie Thai and husband, Minh, of Longmont, Colorado; a grandson, Matthew Fry and wife Vicky of Cheyenne, Wyoming; brothers-in-law, Russell Fry and wife, Hilda, of Waynesboro, and Harold Fry and wife, Patricia, of Staunton. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10 until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2011, in the Henry Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Dr. Daniel S. Williams.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the devoted staff at Envoy for their excellent care and also to Hospice of the Shenandoah.
