He was born and raised in Lowell, MA.

He died in a Car accident on his way home from the VFW at Fort Campbell.

I miss him very much and I love him dearly. He missed the birth of my son, his 1st Greatgrandchild who is named Josiah "Joe" in rememberance of him. I am his first Grandchild and truly wish I could have been there for him in time of need.

Mr. Bevins served in and retired from the United States Army where he fought in both the Korean and Vietnam wars, earning a Bronze Star medal, a Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and a National Defense Service medal, among many others. He was a member of the VFW at Fort Campbell and also owned and operated Lakeland Bait and Tackle in Indian Mound for over 15 years.

Mr. Bevins is survived by two daughters, Robin A. Bevins-Disotell and Nora S. Bevins; one grandchild, Samantha J. Disotell; a stepdaughter, Burma Joe "B.J." (Larry) Jackson; two stepgrandchildren, Lacy Jo Jackson and Colton Benefield; two brothers, Robert and Alfred Bevins; six sisters, Theresa Vezina, Pauline Bisson, Shirley Dufresne, Dorothy Carbonneau, Eva Crawford, and Rita Gustafson; and one stepson, Joseph Benefield Jr.
