Mrs. Smith, 85, Expires Today
Mrs Eleanor Smith, 85, long time resident of Petoskey, died this morning, following a prolonged illness.
Born, March 9, 1862, in Monroe, Indiana, she was married to Joseph R. Smith by her father, William Hendricks, a minister, at his home near Monroe in February 1884. They made their home there until 1898, when they moved to Petoskey. Mrs Smith attended the Baptist church here.
Surviving are three sons, Melvin, of Kalamazoo; Seth B., of Redlands, Calif.; and Fred W., of Petoskey; three daughters, Mrs Charles Weiser, of Sharon, Pa.; Mrs. Emma Young, of Colunbus, Ohio; and Mrs. G. F. Klanderman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one brother, Josiah Hendricks, of Petoskey; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m., Saturday from Stones Funeral home. The Rev. R. L. Matthews will officiate, and burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
