Gladys Adamson Alford, 84, of Dayton, VA, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at her home.

Mrs. Alford was born Oct. 29, 1922, in Onego and was a daughter of the late Bruce and Opal Sites Adamson.

She lived her early life in Onego and the majority of her life in Dayton, VA, where she graduated from Dayton High School.

Survivors include two sons, Robert R. Alford of Dayton, VA, and Steven B. Alford of Louisa, VA; a daughter, Susan B. Carter of Grottoes, VA; a brother, Jim Adamson of Rockledge, FL; two sisters, who were also caregivers, Doris Marquess of Dayton, VA, and Naomi Spencer of College Park, MD; 11 grandchildren, including Gary E. Tolliver, whom she raised; 10 great-grandchildren; and caregiver, Mike Marquess, of Dayton, VA.

The funeral was held Tuesday at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, VA. Burial followed at the Dayton Cemetery.
