Ruth Chastain Hammond Haywood of White, GA formerly of Smyrna, GA passed away Sunday November 6, 2011 after suffering a stroke.
She was the second of eleven children born to Emory Winn and Donna York Chastain on August 15, 1925 in Kennesaw, GA.
She was preceded in death by her husbands H.H. "Bud" Hammond and Pete Haywood, two sons David Glenn and Michael H. Hammond and an infant grandson, one sister Livinia Coker, three brothers, John, Edward, and Ralph Chastain.
She is survived by three brothers E.W. (Carolyn) Chastain and Paul Chastain of Kennesaw, Sam (Cheryl) Chastain of Powder Springs, GA Three sisters Emogene Darnell, Ann (Larry) Merritt of Kennesaw, GA, Donna (Olin) Herndon of Orange, VA. Three Grandsons Brian, Daniel, and Michael V. Hammond and granddaughter Michele Hammond Lambert. Great Granddaughters Rachel Hammond and Samantha Ann Hammond and Great Grandson Matthew Ian Hammond, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday November 8 in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna with Dr. Olin Herndon and Brother Paul Chastain officiating. Interment will be in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
