Well Known Lady Expired at 12 O'Clock Sunday
Mrs. Laura A. Mathis, age 78, died at 12 o'clock Sunday after an illness of one year. The funeral will be held from the United Brethren church at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Stanley B. Williams. Interment will be in the family lot at Oakwood cemetery.
The deceased is survived by six sons, Theodore, Henry and William of Parsons; Leslie, of Coffeyville; Harvey of Springfield, MO; and Charles of Mortonville, MO.
Mrs. Mathis' husband died five years ago. They lived in and near Parsons since 1871, coming from Martin county, Iowa and locating on a claim six miles west of Parsons.
She was a kind and affectionate mother, whose children are a splendid monument to her memory, and all of whom were present at the time o0f her death.
