Cowanesque, June 29 – The funeral of Mrs. Polly Bancroft King, widow of Prince King, of the Jemison, was held in Cowanesque Methodist Church Sunday. Mrs. King was born Dec. 11, 1838, at Addison, N.Y., and early life came to this section where she had lived since. "Aunt Polly" as she was known to everyone, was one of the best known and loved of any in this vicinity. She has always enjoyed good health and was actively engaged in the household duties until only a few days before her death, which occurred early Friday morning. She is survived by one son, Ural, of near Knoxville. A daughter, Mrs. John Hegmann, died a few years ago. Three sisters survive, Mrs. Phebe Coon, of Westfield; Mrs. Alice Short, of near Sabinsville, and Miss Lois Bancroft, who made her home with Mrs. King. Interment in the Champlin cemetery.
