Married on 20 Oct 1834 in Chateauguay, St-Joachim, Quebec.

by Jerry Longeuay:

The original name was Bergevin dit Langevin. When the "dit" was dropped, some of my clan kept the Bergevin, some the Langevin.

Louis kept the Langevin name as his first 4 children born in Châteauguay are listed as Langevin in the church records.

And when Louis migrated from French speaking Montreal to English speaking Ontario the Langevin was either mis-spelled or mis-translated to Longeway.

This also happened with the Bodineau dit Langevin's, so there are two different Longeway clans.

At the St. Mary's cementery in Mitchell, the mis-spelling on the tombstones was also present. Eventually all of Louis's descendents used the name Longeway.

And some further descendants (my great grandfather and some of his siblings - not all) had the name changed from Longeway to Longeuay when they joined the Army. I have some cousins named Longeway and some Longeuay.
