Born in Fort Mill, Mr. Massey was a son of the late Tanzell and Jessie Helms Massey. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Eli Bailes American Legion Post 43 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9138. Mr. Massey was a member of Catawba Masonic Lodge No. 56. He was retired from Celanese and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Doris Broome Massey; two daughters, Carolyn Worley of Fort Mill and Cindy Massey of Chapel Hill, N.C.; two stepsisters, Ruby Catoe and Christine Caston, both of Fort Mill; two grandchildren, Rebecca Banks (Mac), and Carrie Worley. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry L. Massey.
