JONATHAN STEWART, 81, DIES AT INDIANAPOLIS
Was Well-Known Resident of Franklin Many Years – Burial Here Monday

Burial services will be held in Greenlawn cemetery Monday afternoon for Jonathan Stewart, 81, a former well-known resident of Franklin, who died Friday at his home in Indianapolis….
Mr. Stewart had spent the greater part of his life in Franklin, removing to Indianapolis about 25 years ago and engaging in the contracting business, in which he had been successful and active until a short time before his death. While residing in Franklin, Mr. Stewart had been in the livery business, having the barn on Monroe street now occupied by the Herriott blacksmith shop, and residing next door to the barn.
He was active in many community affairs while a resident of Franklin and was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge and the Franklin Commandery, his membership remaining here after his removal to Indianapolis. Surviving his death is the widow, Mrs. Alice Overstreet Stewart, a sister of Mrs. Mary Gilchrist, of Franklin, and Mrs. Cornelia Fitzpatrick, of the Hurricane community.
