Taitlyn Shae Hughes, 12, a former resident of Elkins and for the past year, a resident of Martinsburg, passed from this life Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., following an unexpected fatal brain hemorrhage.

Taitlyn was born Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, in Elkins, a daughter of John E. Hughes II and Nicole J. Armstrong Siva. She is also survived by her siblings, Darian Alexa Hughes, age 14, Dalton Tyler Siva, age 6, and Landen Trevor Siva, age 4; paternal grandparents, John Hughes and companion, Sheila Hatley, of Webster Springs, and Joyce Hughes, of Huttonsville; maternal grandparents, Herman and Vickie Armstrong, of Mill Creek; her uncles, Chris Hughes and family of Lousia, Va., and Shane Armstrong, of Hedgesville; great-grandparents, Ina Gear, of Huttonsville, and Larry and Janet Bender, of Warren, Ohio; her stepparents, Jamie Hughes, of Elkins, and Chris Siva, of Martinsburg; one very special great-aunt, Sherry Thomas and husband, Harl, of Nitro; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.

Taitlyn attended Midland Elementary School in Elkins from kindergarten through fourth grade and Jennings Randolph Elementary School in Elkins during fifth grade, and was currently attending Hedgesville Middle School where she had recently become a cheerleader and had been chosen to receive the Citizenship Award. She was a member of Center Stage Studio of Dance, Elkins; United Soccer; Rhythm and Motion Dance Studio in Martinsburg; and had most recently attended The Living Room Church at Martinsburg. She loved spending time her family and friends as well as texting, taking photos, shopping and taking care of others. A sweet, loving and giving person, Taitlyn wanted to change the world for the better so much so that in her passing, she donated her organs to help save the lives of others.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at The Alliance Community Fellowship Church at Gilman. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at the church. The Rev. Tim Turner and Pastor Mark Epperson will officiate, and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville.

A memorial service will also be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at The Living Room Church, 50 Monroe St., Martinsburg, WV 25404 where Youth Pastor Danny Sullivan and Senior Pastor Kevin Green will officiate. During the memorial service, Darian A. Hughes will be baptized as a symbol of her faith and to honor Taitlyn.

Memorial contributions in Taitlyn Shae Hughes' memory may be made at Huntington Bank, 420 Davis Ave., Elkins, WV 26241 for a charity to be named at a later date.
