She was born Solbjorg Kvikne Heggem to Marit and Einar on October 23, 1931, in Svorkmo, Norway, where she attended school and worked prior to immigrating to the United States to marry the love of her life, Leif.
Solbjorg was a beloved-cherished wife of 53 years, mother, grandmother "Bestemor", mother-in-law and devoted friend.
She was an active member of American Lutheran Church, Rachel Circle, A.L.C.W., P.E.O.Chapter AN, Sons of Norway, Garden Club, Ski for Light and was a volunteer to numerous shut-ins.
Solbjorg loved to sing, laugh, and dance. She often referred to herself as a "domestic engineer" because she enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and sewing. She was a gracious hostess to all. What a lady! Solbjorg traveled extensively back and forth to Norway to stay in close contact with family and friends.
Mom adored being a wife, mother and a "bestemor" to her two grandchildren Sonja and Leif. We feel so grateful to have had her as our mother. We'll miss her.
After being diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she bravely faced the many challenges with dignity and grace.
Special thanks to her caregivers and most especially Peggy Moes.
Her parents preceded her in death.
