James Tuttle Barnett

James Tuttle Barnett, the son of David L. and Sara Barnett was born in Davis county, Iowa, April 16, 1862. After a complicated illness of five years, he succumbed with a heart attack and passed to his reward June 10, 1937 at the age of 75 years, 1 month, 25 days.

At the age of three his father was taken from him and at the age of 6 his mother was taken, thus he was left in the care of John Rollins who was appointed his guardian.

Nov. 12, 1885, he was united in marriage to Miss Fannie Hayden, their home was blessed with four children, all of whom survive. Arthur Barnett of West Grove, Ia., Gertrude Lamb of Anaheim, California, Earnest Barnett of West Grove, Ia. He also is survived by his wife, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. These with other relatives and a host of friends mourn their loss.

He was the youngest of a family of six children, all of whom preceded him in death.

He was converted in his early married life and placed his membership in the M.E. church known as Bethel where he remained a member until his death. His home always having been in David county, Iowa.

He was always a kind and loving father, patient in his suffering and always thoughtful of those who cared for him.

His cheerful and pleasant disposition won for him many friends wherever he went.

Funeral services were held at the West Grove M.E. Church Saturday, June 12, at 2 p.m., Rev. Hood officiating. Interment was made at the Bethel cemetery.
