Michael J. Morgan Sr., 57, died on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at his home in Belleville. Funeral services will be on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Zarro Funeral Home, 145 Harrison St., Bloomfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Lucy's Church, Newark. The burial will be at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield. Visitation will be on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. Mr. Morgan was born in Pittston, Pa., and lived in Newark before moving to Belleville 30 years ago. He was an operator for Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission in Newark. He was a private first class in the Army and served during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal- Expert Rifle, Bronze Star- Expert Pistol Medal, and the Air Crewman Wings Senior designation. Michael also was an EMT for Irvington General Hospital and a volunteer for West Essex First Aid Squad, Caldwell. He was a member of the American Legion, Trenton, and St. Lucy's Drum and Bugle Corps. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis (Ferrentino) Morgan; loving children, Dawn Marie Palmieri and husband, Marc, Nicole Morgan, Michael Morgan Jr. and Vincent Morgan; he was the dear brother of William and wife, Patricia, Kevin and wife JoAnn, Joseph and wife, Leticia, and Patrick Morgan; Ellen Heath and husband, Kevin, and Maureen Caulfield; he also leaves his cherished granddaughters, Olivia, Victoria and Claudia. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen (Dankulich) and William Morgan.
