Ruby Rose Melton Forkes, age 88, of Bend, Ore., passed away on Monday Feb. 23, 2009. Ruby was born Jan. 14, 1921 in Laurel County, Ky., the daughter of Jim Frank and Grace (Bowling) Weaver.

Ruby retired as a retail clerk in 1977 and she and her husband Denver moved to Bend. Ruby was a founding member of Christian Life Center in Bend. She enjoyed sharing her many talents of sewing, crocheting, knitting and quilting with her family, friends and church as a gift of love.

Ruby Rose Weaver was united in marriage to Charles Denver Melton for 51 years and to this union was born a daughter, Peggy Ann. Ruby was widowed when Denver passed away in 1998, and in 2002 was united in marriage to Donald S. Forkes until his passing in 2007.

Ruby Melton Forkes is survived by her loving family including her daughter Peggy and husband David Franke; four granddaughters and husbands, Marlece and Jim Lasher, Jenay and Charlie Brewer, Tawnya and Rick Taylor, and Shauna and Justin Vaughan; fifteen great-grandchildren including Layton, Brayden, Corvan and Jordan Lasher, Lashae, Kole, Charsie, Luke and Reece Brewer, Seth and Kysa Taylor, and Ashton, Hunter, Dawson and Lily Vaughan.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and her brother Thorton Weaver, who passed away Jan. 8, 2009.

A Homecoming Celebration was held in loving memory of Ruby on Feb. 28, 2009 at Christian Life Center in Bend, Ore.
