A granddaughter of Decaturs first businessman died today. She was Mrs. carrie T. Green, 77. She died at 6:30am in St. Marys hospital of a heart ailment.
Her grandfather, James Renshaw, was a pioneer resident of Decatur and operated a general store and inn on Lincoln square when the city was formed. He is generally credited with having erected the first building in the city.
Mrs. Green was born Aug. 6, 1862 in Decatur. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Anna White of 848 N. Pine street, with whom she lived. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Cora Keller of Redondo Beach,Calif and Mrs. May Dressen of Los Angeles, Calif. Her only son, Walter, died in October, 1939.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Friday in the Dawson & Wikoff chapel with burial in Greenwood cemetery. Friends may call after 6pm today.
