Marian E. Arnold, age 89, of Florence, SD, formerly of Watertown, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at a Florence, SD assisted living center. She was the widow of Leonard Arnold. Funeral services will be on Monday, at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Bill Hamill officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel, and on Monday prior to services at the church. Judy Everson will be the soloist accompanied by Marcia Jelsma.

Honorary Pallbearers will be will be all of her family and friends.

Active Pallbearers will Brad Mueller, David Nystom, Kevin Engel, Carl Lee, Larry Sipe, Gary Dingsor, Gordon Stormo and Don McGrath.

Marian Eliene Arnold, the daughter of William and Esther (Doner) Engel was born on July 1, 1918 at Waubay, South Dakota. She grew up in the Waubay and Summit area and graduated from Waubay High School in 1939.

On February 11, 1942 she married Leonard V. Arnold in Watertown, SD. The couple lived on a farm near Summit until 1965 when they moved to Watertown. Marian was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts and quilting. She also enjoyed childcare and ran a daycare business in her home. Marian was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and church circle and taught Sunday School. Her husband, Leonard passed away on December 22, 1991.
Marian was the first resident at Country View Assisted Living in Florence, where she had been a resident since March of 2000.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; an infant daughter; one sister, Lois Lee; and one brother, Ronald Engel.

She is survived by her daughter, Lenora (Ron) Mueller of Watertown; one sister, Carol Arnold of Latah, WA; a sister-in-law, Mabel Engel of Watertown; one grandchild, Brad Mueller; and several nieces and nephews.
