Mrs. Catherine L. Bernthal, wife of Rev. August F. Bernthal passed away suddenly at her home at 8:15 p.m. Sunday. Age 75 years. Catherine L. Gengler was born October 15, 1882 in St. Louis, Missouri. On January 6, 1907, she was married there to Rev. Bernthal. They moved to Saginaw from Edwardsville, Illinois 39 years ago. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid Society, the Trinity Bible Class, Valparaiso University Guild, and the Associated Laidies Aid, which she attended Sunday afternoon. Surviving are her husband, two sons and seven daughters, Rev. August H. Bernthal, Winter Haven, Florida; Rev. Harold C. Bernthal, Mrs. Walter Moeller, both of Detroit; Mrs. Thomas Qualman, Chattanooga, Tenn.; Mrs. Lawrence E. Arndt, Mrs. Francis C. Rossow, and Miss Ruth Bernthal, all of Saginaw; 24 grandchildren, also one brother, Fred Gengler, Overland, Mo.....burial in Holy Cross Cemetery....
