Hugo was married 1st Marie de la Haye, a native of Douai, on 2 October 1660, and that she died of the plague before 22 January 1667, when Hugo married 2nd Jannetje Wibau c.1668 (Jeane Vybau, Wybouw, Ooybouwe), widow of Simon Floquet, in Mannheim, Germany. She stated that Jeanne's father was possibly Toussaint Wibau.

Note: The same year that Hugo was born, his mother and two sisters died, probably from the plague. The following year his father remarried [c.1668] to Jannetje Wibau and the couple had five more children.
