Gary Davis, 59, passed away on Nov. 9, 2011, from a massive heart attack. Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Church of St. Mary, 806 E. Broadway Ave., Bismarck. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Gary Leroy Davis was born Oct. 24, 1952, in Crookston, Minn., to Earl "Bud" Davis and Betty Lou (Durdahl) Davis. He was raised in Bismarck, where he attended and graduated from Bismarck High School class of 1970. He began serving in the U.S. Army Feb. 15, 1972, and was honorably discharged Feb. 14, 1974.
He was a member of the Iron Workers Union for 12 years. When his son, Nick, was born he wanted to do less traveling so he went to work at Melroe Company as a skilled welder for 14 years. He continued his welding career working for companies that installed and repaired oil storage tanks at refineries and oil fields and was with Rocky Mountain Drilling at the time of his death.
Gary had many beloved children who spent lots of time at his house whom he accepted as his own. Gary loved spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing and watching football, particularly the Vikings. He enjoyed the outdoors, grilling and napping in his recliner with a sleeping baby on his chest.
Gary is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Judy (Braun) Davis, Bismarck; his children, Nick "Earl" Davis, Bismarck, and Lydia Davis, Bismarck; his mother, Betty Lou (Durdahl) Davis, Bismarck; two brothers, Danny (Kathy Krempges) Davis, Trent, S.D., and Mike (Judy Ahl) Davis, Bismarck; and his beloved "adopted" son, Levi Grubb, Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl "Bud" Davis; and four infant children.
