Lloyd "Boogie" Smith, Jr. 58, of Tampa passed away January 15, 2007. Lloyd served with the United States Army during Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of West Broad Street Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Helen Smith and son Michael Scott Smith. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 21 years, Gayle; children, Sarah, Mary, Rachael and Nathanael, all of Tampa; brother, Samuel R. Smith of Brooksville; sisters, Shirley L Weiss of Tampa and Susan Chabotte of Orlando; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan 18th from 6-9 PM at MacDonald Funeral Home, 10520 North Florida Ave. A funeral service celebrating Lloyd's life will take place 11 AM Friday, January 19th at West Broad Street Baptist Church, 3809 W. Broad St. Tampa. Serving, as pallbearers will be Ricky Cobb, Andy Cobb, David Wade, Doug Snow, Dean Smith and Don Lynn. Interment will follow at Spring Lake Cemetery in Brooksville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the family.
