Marcella Jean Nicol, 91, of Waterloo, died Sunday, November 13, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls.

She was born February 18, 1920, in Minneapolis, Minn. daughter of Thomas Benjamin and Mary Ella Dawes Barton. She married LaVerne E. "Nick" Nicol October 18, 1943 at St. John's Catholic Church in Waterloo.

Marcella and her husband owned and operated Mid State Reproduction and Supply and Art N Crafts.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Thomas (Linnea) Nicol of Cedar Falls and Tony (Pam) Nicol of Elk Run Heights; six daughters, Marla Rogers, Maureen (John) Beckman and Monica Sue Card of Waterloo, Mary Nicol of Cedar Falls, Marsha "Kelli" (Roger) Harris of Byhalia, Miss. and Neuza (George) Gartin of Springfield, Mo.; 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by two daughters in infancy, Evelyn and Karen; a son, Todd Nicol; a grandson, Jeremy Nicol; a son-in-law, David E. Rogers; three brothers, Leroy, Edward and Lloyd Barton and two sisters, Thelma Leopard and Lillian Hunt.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty – Waychoff – Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 5:00 p.m. Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary. Visitation also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Queen Of Peace Catholic Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Marcella loved playing cards with her card club. She loved painting and shared that love with her children and grandchildren and many students over the years. Her Wednesday Paint Ladies were dear to her.
