He was credited with discovering the potential in Devil's Slide, Utah as containing a component (limestone) used in the manufacturing of cement, and for many years (1905-1909) was associated with the Union Portland Cement Company in Utah and Colorado and later the Oregon Portland Cement Company in Lake Oswego, Oregon, serving as their Plant Superintendent from 1909-1915. He then started his own investment company in Los Angeles, California.
In 1922, he put considerable personal money into the Aleutian Livestock Company and was a member of the Board of Directors and President of that company for many years. He made the steamer voyage to Chernofski Harbor with the first flock of sheep in 1923. After the company went into receivership in 1929, he spent the rest of his life keeping faith with his investors, paid ranch hand salaries out of his own pocket, and was in New York City to find new investment capital when he died in 1935.
Thanks to Erin Meadors FAG member 48172523 for discovering where he received his education. Special thanks go to Cora Holmes, author of "Alaska's Wild West – Volume 1, The True Story of Alaska's Range Wars in the Aleutian Islands" for providing much of the above detailed information on Aman Moore in her very interesting and well-written book.
