Perquimans County Commissioner M. Shirley Wiggins, 77, of 187 Wiggins Road, Winfall, died Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at noon at the Elizabeth City State University Fine Arts Building in Elizabeth City with the Rev. Alvin Boone officiating. Burial will follow in Melton Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Winfall. A wake will be held on Friday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Melton Grove Baptist Church. The body will lie in state Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service. Stallings Funeral Home, Elizabeth City is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Wiggins was the daughter of the late Hardy Wiggins Sr. and the late Mary L. Wiggins. Survivors include a daughter/niece, C. Loretta Buggs; brothers, Percy A. Wiggins Sr. of Winfall, Horace Wiggins of Baltimore, Md. and brother/son, Hardy Wiggins Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, adopted sons and daughters, godchildren and extended family.
