She was born March 5, 1954 in Clinton, N.C. to the late B.P. Bradshaw Jr. and Rachel B. Bradshaw.
She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church where she sang in the parish choir and served as a Lay Eucharist Minister. She was an accomplished nature photographer and a caring nurse anesthetist. Many of her favorite photographs were taken during her annual trips to Kennebunkport to visit her in-laws, Nancy and Dick Thigpen. Her optimism and love of life were reflected by her statement on the cards she produced for her small business. "In our busy lives, we often forget to look around and notice God's creations. They remind us of His power and His love for us. I am constantly awed by the beauty of the flowers as well as God's small creatures. We are lucky to be able to enjoy God's handiwork." The way she touched many lives as she lived her life with strength and grace through faith, was evidence of His handiwork, too.
Her survivors include her husband of 22 years, Richard M. Thigpen; their three sons, Christopher M. Thigpen, Justin S. Thigpen and Nicholas B. Thigpen; her two sisters, Bonnie B. Gladden and Kaye B. Wheeler.
Her family would like to express special thanks to Gary Frenette, M.D. and Robert Heyer, M.D., her loving and caring friends, and all of those who lifted her up and supported us through prayer.
A memorial service was held Oct. 9 at Christ Episcopal Church, Charlotte, N.C. with the Rev. Philip J. Tierney and the Rev. Martha Hedgpeth officiating. Inurnment was in The Memorial Garden of Christ Church. [1412 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207]
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Inc., 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244; Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 East 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204; Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC 28207; or Grove Park Baptist Church, 609 Northeast Blvd., Clinton, NC 28328.
