Tractor Tips, Kills Woman, 29 - Mrs Halfast Was Trying To Free Auto - A Spartansburg RD3 woman was killed early yesterday when a tractor overturned near her home, according to Deputy Coroner Dr William H Earnest of Spartansburg. Mrs Naomi L Halfast, 29, had gone to her father-in-law's home nearby and borrowed a tractor to pull her car from the mud in the rear of her home, Dr Earnest reported. Her husband was asleep in their mobile home at the time, the Deputy Coroner said, but Mrs Halfast apparently did not want to awaken him and attempted to pull the car free by herself. The accident occurred about 9:30 am. Mrs Halfast was born Feb 25, 1936, the daughter of Floyd and Eva Wright Henton. On April 7, 1961, she married Raymond J Halfast, Jr. She is survived by her husband and one daughter; her parents, Mr and Mrs Floyd Henton of Centerville RD1; one brother, Donald Henton, of Centerville RD1; and one sister, Mrs Thomas (Shirley) Schiewe of Harbor Creek. Friends may call at the H Richard Hays Funeral Home in Spartansburg...Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Spartansburg.
