William C. Bradley, 89 years old, died at his home at 1814 30th avenue this morning at 5 o'clock. He was born in Cartersville, VA., January 26, 1843, and served as a Confederate soldier all through the Civil War. He is one of the oldest citizens in the community, having come to Gulfport 35 years ago. Before coming to the city he served as a conductor on the Illinois Central railroad, 30 years, and was also conductor on the G.& S. I. railroad for a number of years. He was clerk in the land office in Jackson at one time and issued the land grant for the land used by the G. & S. I. R. R. Surviving him are the wife, Mrs. W. C. Bradley; two sons, Percy Bradley , Norfolk, VA., and Bertrand Bradley, Pampa, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Lena Hudson, Chicago; Mrs. Charles Browne, Scranton, Penn., and Mrs. Horace Thompson, Gulfport. He also leaves 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Pvt Co A, 5th Battn. MS Inf., which became Co 1, 43rd MS Inf. ("the Camel Regiment"). Enlisted 9/20/1861 at the age of 17. Discharged (measles). Reenlisted. Detailed at Tannery. Captured at Siege of Vicksburg. Paroled NC at war's end. Southern Patriot!
