Davenport - Funeral services to celebrate the life of Gene R. Olson, 75, a resident of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2011, at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, Davenport. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the family. Gene passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011, at ManorCare in Davenport.
Gene Raymond Olson was born April 30, 1936, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, a son of Raymond and Thelma (Reagles) Olson. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. Gene was united in marriage to Beverly Boarman on October 19, 1963.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, and their children, a daughter, Becky (Brian) Heckert, of Davenport, and four sons, Anthony Olson, Jonathan Olson and Charlie Olson, all of Davenport, and Jeffrey Olson, St. Petersburg, Fla.; one grandson, Gavin Olson, Bettendorf; a sister, Debra Olson, LaCrosse, Wis.; five brothers, James Olson, Tampa, Fla., David (Gail) Olson, of North Carolina, John (Christine) Olson, Shawano, Wis., and Daniel (Bonnie) Olson and Paul Olson, all of La Crosse, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his in-laws the Boarman clan. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Gerald Olson.
