Genevieve M. Peterson, age 84, resident of Brainerd, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. She was born July 17, 1925, in Brainerd to Gilman and Mary (Daniel) Helland. Genevieve was a lifetime resident, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Women's Club, American Legion Auxiliary, volunteer Sunday school teacher and the drum and bugle core.
She married Lyle John Peterson Sept. 1, 1945, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd.
Survivors include husband, Lyle; son, Terry A. (Bonnie) Peterson; daughter, Patricia (Mark) Morris; four grandsons; two granddaughters; four great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson; many nieces and nephews and godchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lorene (Tatty) Chisholm, Ione Flaskerude; and one brother, Gerald (Pickles) Helland.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd with the Rev. David Holte officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens cemetery. Visitation times are Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home and Thursday one hour prior to services at the church.
Arrangements are with the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home, Brainerd.
