Services for Mr. Johnston will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family.
Dennis was born on Jan. 27, 1943, in Rock Island, son of Leland Johnston and Mildred Weiss Johnston. He married Janice Fetes on May 25, 1963, in Rock Island.
Mr. Johnston loved his work. He worked in auto sales his entire life, owning and operating Johnston Dodge in Rock Island for many years. He had also been the manager at the QC Auto Auction, Milan. He was currently operating the "The Car Lot" in Silvis. His memberships included Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Jug was a life-member of the Rock Island Moose Lodge, No. 190. He enjoyed gardening, boating and NASCAR. He also especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Janice; daughters, Karen (Ricardo) Johnston-Garcia, Marietta, Ga., Joan (John) Cronier, Atlanta, Ga., and Pamela (Thomas) Romeo, Rock Island; grandchildren, Nicholas, Joseph, Jackson and Charley; a niece, Cindy Terrell, Indiana; and a nephew, Stanley Terrell, Milan.
Mr. Johnston was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Janice Terrell.
