Slipped away peacefully into life with God Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Hospice House. Ann was born July 18, 1922 in Hague, North Dakota to Anton and Margaret (Schmidt) Mastel. She was one of fifteen children. Ann married Jacob Miller in November 1940 in Hague, North Dakota. They moved from ND to Spokane, WA after Jake was discharged from the Army/Air Force during WWII. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Dan) Thomas, Mica, WA and Sister Paula Jean Miller FSE, Houston, TX and also by three sons, Jim (Melody), Spokane, WA, Terry (Jani), Spangle, WA and Ken (Sarah), Edina, MN. Grandchildren: Bill, Lori, and Gary Thomas, Debbie (Mike) Lee, Marena, Crystal, Katrina, Jordan, Andrew, Christopher, Matthew, Michael, Kristen Miller and Ashley and Austin Sievers. Great grandchildren: Justin and Jessica Lee. Brothers: Michael Mastel of Gahanna, OH, Peter Mastel of Bloomington, MN and sister, Eva (Kathy) Baillie of Spokane and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Jacob in 1980. Also by son, Gerald, in 1941 and stillborn daughter and sons. Ann worked in the attendance office at Gonzaga Prep during the 1980's and on the Spokane Election Board for many years. She also did volunteer work at Sacred Heart Medical Center and worked in the office at St. Augustine Church. She had been an active member of St. Jude's Guild at St. Francis Xavier Church before moving to St. Augustine Parish where she was an active member of Pope John Volunteers. She was currently a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the Phoenix Club. Her hobbies included crocheting and gardening. She loved to bake and was known by all for her delicious German cooking.
