Emma Noe's Husband Dies in Louisville

Reports from Louisville today said that burial for Francis Adams, retired attorney and husband of the former Emma Noe of this city, whose body was taken from the Ohio River at Louisville Tuesday afternoon, might be in Hopkinsville the last of this week.

Services will be held at Louisville Thursday morning, but complete funeral and burial plans had not been announced this afternoon.

The Associated Press reported from Louisville that today's investigation of Mr. Adams' death indicated the attorney had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage before he plunged into the river yesterday afternoon. The autopsy hinted Mr. Adams was probably dead before he went into the river. No great amount of water was found in the lungs.

A corporation attorney in Chicago and New York until his retirement in 1935, Mr. Adams moved to Louisville with his wife in 1942.

Adams was born in Russellville, Ky. [This is not accurate; he was born in Chicago.] He was graduated from Amherst College in 1904 and from Harvard University Law College in 1908.

He practiced law in Chicago as a corporation attorney from 1908 until 1921. He then moved to New York, where he joined the law firm of Browne, Whellock, Harris, and Vogt.

The attorney's body was brought out of the river only a short time after he was reported seen walking down the levee at the foot of Louisville's Fourth Street. Coast guardsmen and the police emergency squad worked for an hour in an effort to revive Mr. Adams after the body was brought ashore.
