Mallory Cangialosi - age 43, of Westport, Connecticut, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2005. Mallory was born to the parents of Robert (Bob Ivers) Prestlien and Marcia (Henderson) Prestlien May 26, 1962 in Hollywood, California.
In 1972, the family came to Yakima where she attended Elementary School, Franklin Jr. High, and Eisenhower High School. After graduating from IKE in 1980, Mallory attended the University of Southern California where she received a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. After graduating from USC, she worked for CBS Television in Hollywood and Norman Lear's production company Act III. Then it was on to Las Vegas where she worked as a show producer at KTNV-TV followed by New York 1 News.
While at NY1 she met, dated, and married "the best thing to ever happen to her": Steve Cangialosi, a New York City Sportscaster. Mal and Steve were married on April 1, 1995; the newlyweds lived in Manhattan, with their beloved kitty, Luka. Then, in 1998, the three moved just north of the city to a beautiful town in Connecticut. In 1997, she went to work for the A&E Television Network where she became a Managing Producer.
Mallory meant so much, to so many people, her husband of ten years, calls her a "light in the lives of family, friends, and co-workers". She loved attending USC Trojans' football games, knitting, reading, and was a classic television buff.
Her Mother, Father, and Grandparents precede Mallory in death. She is survived by her husband, Steven Cangialosi, of Westport, Connecticut; and her sister, Alenda (Dennis) Michael, who reside in her native Yakima.
There will be a memorial service this Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 11:00 am at Shaw and Sons Funeral Home at 201 No. 2nd Street, Yakima, WA. Interment took place October 24, 2005 in Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport, Connecticut.
Mallory's dedication and love for her family, friends, and professional "family" at A&E is nearly matched by her love for animals. In honor of this, memorial contributions may be made to Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741-5000 or the ASPCA.
