Col. John Jacob Beiser Obituary

Col. John J. Beiser, 61, of 2211 S. Homer, died at 7:10 am Sunday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Kansas City. He had been a patient in the hospital for the past four weeks and had been in ill health since his
retirement in 1961.

He was born Jan. 11, 1915, in Pittsburg, and graduated from Pittsburg High School. In 1940 he was graduated from West Point Military Academy.

He served in the U.S. Army for 21 years, retiring at the rank of colonel in 1961 because of poor health.

He returned to Pittsburg in 1967.

Col. Beiser served with Gen. Stillwell in Burma during World War II.

He was married to Ruby Elizabeth Fulton of Pittsburg, Kansas, (born March 30, 1915, in Arma, Crawford County, Kansas), on June 13, 1940, at Highland Falls, New York at the First Presbyterian Church, near West Point. She survives at the home.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Anne Allen, wife of Frank T. Allen, Iowa City, Iowa, and Mrs. Susan Fitz, of the home (now of Topeka, Kansas), and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am Wednesday in the Brenner Chapel with the Rev. Homer Keith officiating. Military rites will be held following the service in the chapel and the body will be taken to Kansas City for cremation. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 pm. Tuesday in Brenner Chapel.

Note: His final resting place is at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas, next to his wife Ruby, who died May 6, 1982 at the age of 82.
