Wilma Aalborg, age 90, of Aurora died Friday night, December 27, 2002, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, December 30th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aurora. Fr. Craig Doty will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora, with the Rosary at 7:00 P.M.

OBITUARY: WILMA AALBORG

Wilma Charlene Aalborg, the daughter of George and Winifred (Lewis) Wanek, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on August 30, 1912 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on December 27, 2002, at the age of 90.

She grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School. Wilma graduated from Duschene College and then went on to teach English and French in Esterville, Iowa, where she met Jake.

Wilma was united in marriage to LeRoy L. "Jake" Aalborg on June 7, 1937 at Aurora. They lived in Iowa and then moved to California before moving to Aurora in 1951. They farmed northeast of Aurora. Jake passed away on February 14, 1976. Wilma continued to live on the farm until several years ago when she went to live at Hamilton Manor.

Wilma was involved the Women's Club, Bridge Club and Book Club. She volunteered at the Plainsman Museum for many years. Wilma was also a longtime volunteer for the Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed playing golf.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers Dr. Frank Wanek and Clayton Wanek.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Joe Aalborg and his wife Betty of Giltner and John Aalborg of Lincoln; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a special niece and nephew, Deanie and Tom Wanek of Aurora and many other relatives and friends.
