Joseph W. Stevens of Macon, Georgia, 83, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2 PM at Lawrence Drive Baptist Church with Reverends Brad Marchman, Phil Bryant, and John Lawrence officiating. Burial will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 7:00 P.M. til 9 P.M. on Friday, November 18, 2011 at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue- To those that wish memorial contributions may be made to Lawrence drive Baptist Church Building Fund, 5774 School Road, Macon, Georgia 31216. Mr. Stevens was born in Cadwell, Georgia to the late Drusilla Howell Stevens and Joseph Martin Stevens. He was a charter member of Lawrence Drive baptist Church and chairman of the building committee. He was retired from 39 years at Robins Air Force Base, where he worked as an aircraft engineer. Mr. Stevens was also a proud veteran of the US Navy, enlisting during World War II at the age of 17. Mr. Stevens is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Grantham Stevens of Macon; one daughter, Dr. John Stevens (Dr. David) Perlow of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Seth and Dara Perlow; two sisters, Fannie Jo Knight and Bryleen Warren, both of Rentz, Georgia. Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono, has charge of arrangements.
