A 69-year-old man who died Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Hospital of injuries suffered in a 3-car crash will be counted as the city's 34th traffic fatality of the year.
The accident occurred on I-70 east of Leeds.
A spokesman for the highway patrol said Clay Lemmons, suffered head injuries. The accident occured when his car was struck from behind while stopped for traffic on the highway.
An eastbound car had stopped and then Lemmons's car stopped behind it. The third car struck Lemmons's car, knocking it out of the roadway into the medial strip. The third car continued and struck the first car before coming to a stop, the officer said.
