MRS. J.M. (MAGGIE) BLACKLEDGE

Mrs. J.M. (Maggie) Blackledge, 84, life long resident of Jones County, died early Sunday in a Laurel hospital following a short illness.

A resident of 945 Poplar Dr. Laurel. Mrs. Blackledge was the daughter of the late J.M. and Elizabeth Jones Walters. She was a member of the First Church of God.

Funeral services were held Monday, 2:30 p.m. from the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with the Revs. Raymond Horne and Larry Skidmore officiating. Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W.O. (Lola) Best, Mrs. Mamie Lou Hennington, one son, John A. Blackledge, all of Laurel; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. S.A. Blackledge, El Cerrito, Cal.; Mrs. M.S. Byrd, Route 6, Laurel; one brother, W.C. Walters, Route 1, Laurel; three half-sisters, Mrs. Lenora Stein, Blytheville, Ark; Mrs. Etta Reeves, Route 1, Parkinston; and Mrs. Ellenor Busby of Ellisville.

Active pallbearers were Robert Walters, Granville Walters, Derwood Walters, Carlton Walters, Pete Blackledge and W.A. Smith.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. W.E. Weems, Dr. G.E. Holder, Dr. William L. Carr and Dr. Robert L. Thompson.
