Karl E. Myers, 66, died at the hospital early Tuesday after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Thursday at Pioneer United Church with Rev. Lee Corey officiating. Knights of Pythias rites were recited at the cemetery.
A native of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, he spent nearly all of his adult life in the San Luis Valley and the Del Norte area. He was the son of Charley W. and Mary Myers. Karl was with the telephone company for fourteen years; farmed in the Center area with the late Ashley Henry; was employed by Slats Burks many years; had his own station briefly; and, until recently, was with the vegetable grower/packer.
He and Miss Verna Davies were married in Taos in 1943. He was a member of Coronado Knights of Pythias and had been a No. 105 Mason.
Survivors are his wife; son, Everett Myers; three daughters, Karlene Moore and Donna Ford, Del Norte; and Virginia Morgan, Cleveland, Ohio. Also surviving are his sister, Clara Grooms, Center; brother, J. Everett, Lindsay, California; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
