Hazel Huffman
Hazel Louise Huffman, 80, of Keokuk, formerly of Hamilton, Ill., died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
Born Dec. 6, 1926, in Warsaw, Ill., she was the daughter of Virgil and Imogene Knight Symmonds. On Jan. 17, 1940, she married George Walter Lee Huffman. He died in December 2006.
Mrs. Huffman enjoyed writing stories and poetry, rustic things, Whippoorwills at night and country songs. She always wanted a pretty car and a good permanent in her hair.
Survivors include six sons, Roger Huffman and George Huffman, both of Hamilton, Anthony Huffman, David Van Huffman and Timothy Huffman, all of Keokuk, and Christopher Huffman of Warsaw; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Kratzer of Phoenix, Ariz., Julia Greer of Keokuk and Ruth Evenchai of Keokuk.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, one son and one grandson.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lamporte-St. Clair Funeral Home in Hamilton, where family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. A Christian vigil will be prayed Tuesday evening.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church in Keokuk, with the Rev. Paul Connolly officiating.
