ABNER HOWE was born 20 October,1731 in Grafton,Massachusetts.Abner Howe was the ninth child of twelve siblings all born to Nehemiah Howe(1693-1747) and his wife Margarret Willard (1659-1758)of Subury,Ma.In 1741 he and his family traveled by boat up the Connecticut River from Massachusetts and settled on lands in Township(No 2)on the Great Meadows.The family would keep house inside their log built homes with the protection of forts near by.On October 11,1745 Aber's father Nehemiah Howe was captured by Indians and taken to a French prison in Canada.Just before he was about to be relaesed he died in Canada.Abner Howe was the ninth child of twelve siblings.His parents,Nehemiah Howe and Margaret Willard Howe's twelve children were as follows..

Abner Howe married MEHITABLE HOLTON on December 25,1753 she was the daughter of JOHN HOLTON and MEHITABLE ALEXANDER.

Abner Howe was a blacksmith;served in the French and Indian war,in Capt Stevens Company from 1747-9;was a grantee of Westmoreland, NH, in 1752; a constable in Hinsdale in 1753. He moved to Amherst, MA about 1755; was with his family in Northfield, MA a short time, where his first child was born.He later moved back to Westmoreland,NH where he died on July 13,1781.He and his wife are buried at North Cemetery in Westmoreland.His will dated July 1781, is recorded in the Town Clerk's office at Westmoreland, and mentions his wife and children.
