Sylvester was born in Hancock County, East Tenn., October 1,1842.
The 1850 and 1860 census shows him in Hancock Co. under the family John S.M. Walker.
Sylvester enlisted in the Confederate States Army as Corporal, Company D, 29th Regiment, Tennessee infantry, Confederate States Army, August 13,1861 at Camp Powell.
He was transfered to Company G, 5th Regiment (Mckenzie's)Tennessee Cavalry, G.S.A., and was appointed 1st Sergeant, July 1st 1863. He was captured near Richmond in October 8,1863. He was paroled at Camp Morton, Indiana and was fowarded to Point Lookout, Maryland, for exchange, at Boulware's and Cox's Wharf, James River, Virginia, March 23,1865.
Sylvester Married (date unknown) Elizabeth J. and in 1863 daughter Mary was born in Hancock Co. Tenn.. Son Daniel E. was born in 1868 in Hancock, Tenn.. Also daughter Lizzie Walker (April 1873-Nov 11,1888) in Harmony Cem. Weatherford, Parker Co. Texas. His wife Elizabeth J. died March 2,1874. She is also in the Harmony Cem. Weatherford, Parker Co. Texas.
Sylvester married Nancy Jane(Nannie)Lewis Cain (Aug 29,1858-Feb 22,1937) on Oct. 9, 1881 in Parker county, Texas They Owned a store in Weatherford TX. Nannie gave birth to John S. Walker (Nov 10,1882-Feb 18,1890) And William Anderson Walker (Oct 17,1886-Oct 19,1960)
Sylvester and Nannie moved to Holdenville,OK. around 1897 where he again opened a feed store which he operated till his health became bad. Then he farmed at Lamar,Ok. Till he Died March 16,1914 in Lamar,Hughes County, Oklahoma. He is buried in the Lamar Cemetery. His grave was marked with just a piece of sandstone till Nov. 19,2011 when we set a proper military headstone at his grave site.
