CLEVELAND - Mr. Donald Lee Pennell, 51, of Cleveland, went on to be with the Lord Friday, April 2, 2010, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born Nov. 4, 1958, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late James Walter Pennell and Bettie A. Pennell, who survives. He was educated in Rowan County schools and had served in the U.S. Navy.
A member of Third Creek Presbyterian Church, Donald sang in the choir. Music was a big part of his life, and he loved to sing and play the guitar with his friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother; his wife, Barbara Pennell of the home; daughter Malisa (Shane) of Lexington; grandsons Tyler and Caden Snyder also of Lexington; brother Jerry Pennell of Cleveland; sister Susan Pennell Livengood (David) of Salisbury; nephews Stephen Pennell, Michael Livengood; niece Megan Pennell; and a great-nephew, Rylan Pennell.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 6 from 1-2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Third Creek Presbyterian Church.
Service: The Celebration of Life service will follow in the sanctuary at 2 p.m. with Rev. Donald McCann officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials: May be made to Third Creek Presbyterian Church, Cemetery Fund, 2055 Third Creek Church Road, Cleveland, NC 27013.
