Nora Cecil (Dixon) Asher was the daughter of James C. and Evelyn "Eva" (Back) Dixon. She married Curtis Asher on September 5, 1926. They had three children: William Curtis Asher, Anita Jean (Asher) Campbell and Mary Kathryn "Kay" (Asher) Tandy.

Former Letcher postmaster dies

Nora Dixon Asher, 88, of Lexington, died February 22 in Lexington.

A daughter of the late James and Evelyn Back Dixon, she was the widow of Curtis Asher.

Mrs. Asher was a retired postmaster from the Letcher Post Office.

Surviving are a son, William Curtis Asher, Letcher; two daughters, Anita Campbell, Lexington; Kathryn Kaye, Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Rebecca Warner and Lillian Monhollin, both of Crittenden; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were to be held February 23 at Pruitt's Funeral Home in Lexington.

A graveside service will be held today (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at the Dixon Cemetery at Elk Creek.
