Rev. John B. White, pastor emeritus of the Presbyterian Church, died at Del Norte January 14, 1934 at age 67. John Browning White was born at Caledonia, Missouri on April 7, 1866. He was the third son in a family of eight children and spent his early life in his home town.
After completing his primary education, he entered “The Bellvue Collegiate Institute” at Caledonia, Missouri, graduating from that institution with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was awarded the Cupples Medal for oratory and the Institute medal for scholarship. He was engaged by that Institute to teach machematics. A year later he entered the gospel ministry and for thirty-seven years labored faithfully in the Master’s vineyard. Some of the fields he served as pastor were at Wellsville, Missouri; Maxwell, Iowa; Lakin, Kansas; and his last charge was Del Norte where he served for ten years. In 1925 he resigned his pastorate here because of ill health, and he was then made Pastor Emeritus.

On Sept. 25, 1895 he was united in marriage to Miss Addie Z. Farnsworth. To this union six children were born, four of them having preceded their father to the grave, the last being Margaret, who died four years ago.
He is survived by his loving wife, Addie Z. White; a daughter, Mrs. A. A. Arthur of Raton, New Mexico; a son, John, who is a student at Colorado University; two brothers, Herbert White of Big Wells, Texas; Norman White of Ironton, Missouri; and Evangeline Jamieson of Puxico, Missouri; two grandchildren, Dwight David and Prudence Arthur of Raton, New Mexico.
A member of the Masons, committed services were in charge of brother Masons. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church Wednesday afternoon with Pastor John G. Williams in charge.
